Breakfast Deck and Koi Pond
A hardwood-decked space, adjacent to the kitchen, the water feature is a shallow black reflection pool, with a limestone spout projecting from a slot in the perimeter wall. Bamboo features in this Zen-like space, which is completely enclosed with white rendered walls and benefits from fantastic early morning light, producing wonderful reflections of the water tower in the pool below. Mature koi carp enhance the tranquility of the space.
The garden looks out over the rolling Cheshire countryside. The southerly-facing garden is surrounded by mature beech, oak and lime trees, a number of which are up-lit. The haw-haw forms the boundary allowing the views to be enjoyed from all areas of the garden. The garden is simple: black gravel, black, hard paving, grassed areas and minimal planting, mainly bamboo. A 70m2 black circular dining patio is the dominant feature.
This black Indian sandstone patio, which is bathed in late evening sunshine, doubles up as a utility area for drying clothes.
The garden is open-plan to mirror the house, with the lawned areas connecting to the fields beyond, through the use of a haw haw. The views of the dairy herd, on the distant hills, are echoed by the cow sculptures that are dotted around. The garden is south facing and whilst shaded by mature tress that stand like sentries guarding the tower, is a sunny space in which to relax. A small herb garden compliments the garden.
Driveway and Garage
The last piece of the old riveted steel water tank acts as a nameplate, welcoming all to Lymm Water Tower. English oak slatted entrance gates open onto a black stone chipped driveway and double carport and garage.
